Photographer's Note

On the photo you can see medieval City Tower and modern glass windows of Manor Department Store at the entry to the Badenâs Old Town.
The City Tower was created in the mid-15th century and served as the northern city gate. In addition to the Landvogteischloss the City Tower he is the only fully preserved part of the medieval fortifications. With its distinctive appearance of the 56.45-meter-high tower is a landmark of the city.
Baden is located on the left bank of the Limmat river around 25 km northwest of Zurich in the Swiss canton of Aargau.
The name Baden refers to the mineral hot springs there which were known at least as far back as the Roman era.
During the 15th and 16th century Baden attained popularity as a spa and cure resort and was frequented by many prominent people such as Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Hermann Hesse.
The springs here are considered to be the most mineral rich in Europe so you should check them out when you visit here.
Baden also has a lively shopping center and a beautiful old town with traditional Swiss buildings. âAlso the main street is bustling with shoppers during the day. There are lots of clothes shops, and various chain stores including the Manor in the photo.

Hello dear Miro,
Nice capture from Baden with a perfect symbolism of one of the majör problems of our time : the fight of modern with traditional ! I see even there with a higher level of education than my country it didn't work. Most probably a result of wild capitalism !
Anyhow nice entry with many interesting notes.

Hello Miro,
This is not only a combination of old and new, but also of relative darkness and light. The yellow light from the windows contrast well with the dark sky and the roof of the moderns building creates a fine diagonal leading up to the ancient tower. It's a dramatic and rather stunning composition.

Hello Miro,
Wonderful combination of different architectural styles.
While the medieval tower isn't illuminated like the department store, it's still clearly visible in all its details.
The tower and the other buildings on the background look a little like a painting.
A pretty clouded sky on top in a strong contrast with the vivid colours of the shop windows.

Hi Miro again, I do not like the modern building close to the old architecture but on this photo it looks not so bad. Beautiful old tower and the modern shopping center with the lights on also is attractive. Haha, I can imagine the prizes there, not for me for sure. Excellent composition, nice light and colours.

It looks a little like Prague. Stupendous warm cold color contrasts between the grey blue sky and the yellow illumination on the buildings. Good sharpness and ideal saturation. The neon lights add some additional vivid colours. I like the diminishing linear perspective and its converging lines from right fg to left bg. Tfs.

the juxtaposition is very intriguing, I like how the strong perspective joins the two subjects adding impact to both. The lighting and colour treatment are original and intriguing. An interesting juxtaposition of old and new. I prefer the old architecture of course, but the golden tones from the modern building provide a beautiful contrast to it and to the night sky. The tight framing works well too.
