Roothuus Basel

In my previous photo, the Basel Town Hall (Rathaus Basel) could already be seen in the reflections. It is an iconic building, which stands out in the city by its colourful façade, as you can see here. The Town Hall is located at Marktplatz in the heart of the city and was built 500 years ago. It is called Roothuus in local Basel dialect, which is a pun, because it doesn’t only mean ‘council house’, but also sounds like ‘red house’.
