Photographer's Note

This is a view from Switzerland looking into France, to Aiguille Verte (4122 m) on the left and majestic Mont Blanc (4810 m) on the right. In the foreground is Col de Balme, with its mountain hut, Refuge de Col de Balme. The border runs just behind the hut.

We arrived from the French side, catching a cable car from La Tour, then a chairlift up towards the col, then a short walk to the hut, where we had hot chocolate and home-made berry tart. Then we spent some time walking around the hills above the col, enjoying the stupendous scenery on a nice warm sunny day. It doesn't get better than that!

This is a stitch of two photos to make a panorama. Then I used Photoshop to adjust brightness and saturation and smooth out noise in the sky.
