lady bug on fly, a photo from Vaud, West

Photographer's Note

During 21 - 29 January 2006, there is hot air balloon festival in Chateau D'Oex. Small city, up in the mountain, region Enhaute, canton Vaud. This is the 28th festival, and the 4th time for me to attend.

Every year they presented some new balloons (among 100s of balloons), ranging from ordinary look balloon, balloon of the cities, to van gogh, chips, lady bug, chicken, up to balloon for memory of a sheikh.

I saw the people coming is more and more every year, it's getting tougher, and farther for parking place :((

I think this also due to more and more people like photographies, hehehe.... and so they will go/after these kind of events. With digital cameras that people more and more get used to, people coming with different gears . from pocket, to DSLR with huge lenses. I think some of them who came, also from TE (saw some familiar faces ;) ).

Lovely weather and crisp colours. The balloon is really looking at you.
Somehow it bothers me that the balloon is right above that building. A second earlier or later this might look more dynamic.

Wonderful shot of this lady bug. It is fantastic how the contrasted blue and red are working well together. The central composition is simple but effective. All those small people give us a nice feeling of perspective.

Hi Cessy,
So you've been there too yesterday !!! Too bad we did not see you, we were 3 you know, Pascal, Toni and me... Looking at youw WS I think we had a brilliant idea to take the car for lunch and head to the next village for a delicious fondue :-)
Interestingly you chose a PoV similar to mine having the balloon fly over the temple, colors are a bit different on yours but the red flashes also very well against the sky.

Lol! I just critiqued a similar image by 'pixelterror'. I like the superb sharpness & color in this one. The warm cold opposition of red vs blue, is more striking. Bagus sekali. Saya sukah.

yes I remember this lady bug, I've some pictures with it.
This event is very famous, too much people !
2 hours to return from Chateau-d'Oex to Bulle !
Well composed, the church and the red balloon which contrasts well with the blue sky.

So you were there too! A pity that you didn't follow up on all the discussions on the forum to meet up with the others.
Looks like your compo is almost the same as Jean-Yves' (except for the slightly different POV). Mountains, same church, spectators and the balloon on a deep blue sky!

Cessy, je viens de voir la photo de Jean Yves et de lire quelques commentaires. Si je comprends bien, c'était un meeting de photographes de TE. Cette coccinelle est superbe just au dessus du clocher dans un ciel si bleu on ne pouvait pas manquer l'insecte.
Belle réalisation. Je l'ai ajoutée au thčme "Montgolfiers"
RDV au mois d'aoűt ŕ Annonay pour le championnat de France des Montgolfičres !

J'aime bien cette petite coccinelle et ses yeux apeurés, comme si elle avait peur de se faire embrocher par la pointe du clocher!!!peut ętre un tout petit peu sombre quand męme. trčs sympa en tout cas

Hi Cessy, When I am looking at this picture, I feel that the lady bug is looking at me back. I guess because it is a hot air balloon, it would not be too cold up there taking the balloon ride in the cold days above snow. Nice shot to have the red balloon against the blue sky. Oh, yeah, we can see many people there around the building. Nice shot. Thanks for sharing.

I have been waiting for a long while to have a balloon festival near where I am, and all of today's photos from the one at Chateau d'Oex clearly show why - the photographic potential is just endless. This one of yours is very effective with the juxtaposition of the balloon and the dignified scenery - the contrast in terms of color and shape is quite delightful. I think you could try a small bit of brightening. Good add with the workshops, particularly the one with the "gear challenge" ;)

Nice shot of the ladybird, well positionned in the sky near the summit of the mountain. The colours lack a little brightness. I like your paparazzi shots of the Trek Earthians.

Hi Cessy. Yes all of a sudden I see a lot of balloons shots that I'll be critiquing today! Good POV so that we can easily discern that it's a lady bug. I've never seen a lady bug balloon before! Nice one Cessy.

also in Chateau-d'Oex! It was a real TE output again... I have miss this one. Sorry. Nice composition, even if it seems that it is a bit dark. The ballon is fulfil the sky and the first plan show us a good view of the region.

Also this one (as compared to other Te postings) from the baloon gathering is a well made compo. Here I like the great size of the baloon as it hoover over the little chapel. Good capture!

A ballon festival in winter,only in Switzerland!
Nice capture with the ballon over the church.
The weather seems warm as they are manipulating their camera with bare hands.
Seems to have been a good fun day for the group.

Wow! There is perfect harmony between the giant ladybug balloon and the bucolic scene below - and I cannot imagine why. The ultra modern and the ancient past just seem to come together here. I love the clarity, the patchy snow in the foreground, and the dynamism of the shot. Very fine work, Cessy. Its a keeper.

Hi, Cessy. I like how you've put the hot air balloon just above the church tower in your composition. The ladybird balloon stands out very well on the blue sky and the winter mountain background is also very nice.
