Ibex, a photo from Bern, West

Photographer's Note

I always dreamed of seeing an ibex during at least one of my hiking adventures in the alps. I can't think of a better view than this one.
The photo was shot early in the morning, after a long night hike up to Niederhorn - with an undescribable panoramic view of the Swiss alps.

From this spot it's 1200 meters (4000 ft) down to the lake in the background.

One year later me and my wife married in Beatenberg.

Hi Paul, I didn't know such creatures still lived in the Alps, what a great shot. Was this scanned from film? There seems to be a few dust speck on the left hand side. cheers, Steve

Just breathtaking! He's just awake, enjoying the view but still having an eye on you, just in case. Contrast in the back is not that good, it looks almost fake. Must be the haze. Beautiful and what a place to get married. TFS, Gilbert

Excellent shot. The positioning of the animal is suparb. The background gives the sense of widespreaded area. Good dof as werll.

Wow. I dream of seeing an ibex in the alps too. Only lots of marmot which is great too but couldn't get near enough to take a photo. Maybe you can pp to improve the background.

Hi,
your picture is fantastic. I like the depth of field and look ot he backround. The presence of theanimal on the foreground diverisifes the composition and underlines beauty of whole picture. :)
