Photographer's Note
An advert for Ukraine as a tourist destination, before the Russian war of course, said that Kyiv may be the heart of the country but Lviv is its soul.
A very important place to visit in Lviv is its historic Lychakiv Cemetery (Ukrainian: Личаківський цвинтар, romanized: Lychakivs’kyi tsvyntar; Polish: Cmentarz Łyczakowski we Lwowie).
For Polish people like myself it is particularly important because many famous Polish people were buried here. I have already shared here a picture presenting the tomb of the Polish writer, Maria Konopnicka:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Ukraine/West/Lvivska//photo1545670.htm
There is also a section of the cemetery which is called Lviv Defenders' Cemetery. For those who don't know the history, I will just say that the defenders were actually Poles while attackers were Ukrainian who wanted to incorporate predominantly Polish town into their new Ukrainian country after the WWI. Here is my photo from this cemetery section with more info underneath it:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Ukraine/West/Lvivska//photo1546068.htm
Our past was not always peaceful and pretty, for example Ukraine has objected the renovation of the Polish part of this cemetery for a very long time. We don't want to erase or forget the difficult past but we want to focus on building a better future together. Together with hopefully strong independent Ukraine, together with hopefully someday peaceful to its neighbours Russia.
We don't need more cemeteries filled with bodies of heroes. There is no point in shifting borders again.
Let's focus on what we can do here and now to make this world a better place for everybody.

Hello Mariusz,
Days ago I wrote in my critique to one of your Lviv pictures, that this town was Polish city long before it was Ukraine town. Good reason to hope that no war worth this, and peace will return soon.
managed beautifully to include different objects and many people within the frame.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Mariusz, there is so much history to be discovered in cemeteries as we learn about the people who are buried there.
An interesting picture where the crowd are obviously being informed about someone or something.
Excellent sharp shot.
Thanks for your notes.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
Such a great photo of the church and cemetery, where lots of people had gathered on such a sunny day. The architecture and details of the buildings are wonderful. The composition is also great and I like how you included the cross at right, framed by the two trees.

Hi Mariusz, your words are gold, in fact when I think how happy we could be and live in peace and instead we spend billions on wars and armaments used to kill and destroy. Your photo is excellent as always and it is a new opportunity to reiterate to those who did not know the past like me, these diatribes between the two nations in the past, fortunately now the Poles have shown themselves more friends with the Ukrainians, but maybe it's just fear of a return of Russia ... Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Mariusz,
A well composed photo, with the cross on the right and the buildings (tombs?) on the left. The sunlight and blue sky make the cemetery look quite a cheerful place, despite all the sad memories this place has.

Hi Mariusz
A good photo of a grand looking cemetery. Worryingly there are reports coming through of mass graves.

Hello Mariusz,
I find your photograph very poignant, especially with the cross featured so strongly, in the f/g; it is almost as if it is linking to the cross on the dome and embracing the people between them!
The photograph is clear and well saturated.
I would have liked the lamp to be absent from the composition but maybe, that would not have been possible.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled i trenutak, interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Lep krst i stara arhitektura, dobro pokazano sa lepim boajma, kontartsom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa posetiocima.
Dobar rad, lepa fotografija.
Lepo secanje.
Ostaju groblja sa herojima i secanja na strasne ratove.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje za vikend.

a nice view of these funerary monuments with beautiful shapes and symbols. in these last days a local school of my town is doing a presentation of the people who built our town in 1948. yesterday it was an image of a couple from germany (they came here but they couldn't speak portuguese and because this their baby died), yesterday a family from poland who created the first ice cream shop here, even with no electricity. the girl who is working with me told me she discovered her grand father came from poland hidden inside a boat and died in a river here.the ukrainian families created our first cinema and I remember the old peter that was ukrainian and fought against japanese because in those days ukraine was part of the russian empire. when he came back home the girl he wanted to get married had get married with another guy and he waited her daughter be a teen to get married with her and came to Brazil. a city so young and with so universal histories, borrazópolis is linked with all these countries...
take care

Hello Mariusz.
I remember the beautiful photos that you uploaded in the past of the city of Lviv, these that you upload now like the one we discussed, confirms me more in the great monumental beauty, that it would be a terrible loss for history and art if it were bombed.
These tombs are magnificent, like the two that you indicate in your magnificent text and that I have seen again, because memory does not retain everything.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Very well done. Love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.
