Photographer's Note

Version 2 of my Wet British Summer collection.

Central Macclesfield - a typical market town.
It's mid June, and a wet and cold summers day!

I uploaded this image to give a closer view of the telephone box and reflections in the wet paving.
The bright building is a typical 'pub'.

And notice the 'typical' lead coloured sky!
...Ah well, the weatherman promises us sun tomorrow.

Another good photo David, the wet paving works really well and the phone box is a great splash of colour. I don't usually bother trying to take photos on dull days but you've opened my eyes to new ideas.

Nice composition - I like the way you are really trying to see ordinary scenes in different ways. The effect of thereflections and the deserted atmosphere is well captured. Hope you are getting some sun now... it's gloriously hot in Switzerland!

Hi David
Are you trying to damage the British economy? We'll get no tourist now! I love the reflections in the pavement; those and the red of the phone box make the picture look brighter that I'm sure it actually was. I've got a rain reflection shot I might post tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.

This is a Britton weather, but for sure sun will go next :)
I like your compo with traditional elements : red bricks, red telephone, grey sky. Well done !

Lovely and sharp throughout and no noise even tho' at ISO1600!! The cool evening light is well portrayed and I'm fascinated by how it seems so right to have a big block of red so close to the viewer. Is it the diagonals of the glazing bars pointing towards the reflected band of light and hence out of the picture?
Well done, you seem to have made a fine seam to mine with this collection.

David, very evocative image. I love your Cumbrian stuff (it was my 'home from home' as a young lad keen on fell walking) but Stockport is my home and rainy days like this one remind me of my roots (now live in Essex). Paul.
