Photographer's Note
I remember as a youngster the book " One man and his Dog" or was it " One Boy and his Dog" .. It was so so long ago..
This was taken during a UK TE Meeting held in Cumbria.. Ian and his friends had lovingly restored this wonderful old Steam Engine.. I guess Shep was there for support..

hello rich,
what a beautiful picture of a man and his (very affectionate) dog! the dog's pose is truly endearing, and though I am no dog person myself (having spent all of my life with cats), I love his expression and the way he leans towards his master. the man's smile completes the atmosphere of a true bond between the two.
have a good evening,
c.

Hello Rich
a superb intimate portrait of this old man and his dog, it is so full of charm. The old steam engine they are sitting on is in itself a great subject with great geometrical forms and colors. Put all together, this is truly a wonderful photo indeed.
have a good evening

Hi Richard,
Ah, ha, yes, "Sir Tom" - that was the name of the steam locomotive, Iain was the engineer and Shep was the lovely dog!
It's taken you a while to fish this one out! I posted my picture months ago!
But this one is just fabulous - I just love Shep licking Iain's whiskery face - probably getting a mouthful of engine oil and soot into the bargain - and Iain's happy smile. Real engineer's hands too - hands that have seen a lot of hard physical work.
Excellent light and colours and exquisite details and sharpness.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Rich,
A very beautiful and lovely portrait of this man and his dog.
The man looks proud. Proud because he has restored that old steam engine or proud of his faithful dog ? Or both ?
Best regards, Paul

Hello Rich,
now you have beaten John's picture. The eye contact makes it much more attractive. Both the dog and his master seem equally happy.
Wonderful

Hello Rich,
I have wonderful memories of this place with the old man and his loving dog. A lovely pose in which the man looks relaxed and the dog very affectionate. The engine looks nice and shiny and the colours in the image are very pleasing.
Hope you are well and had a super time in Scotland.
Best wishes, Ann
