Photographer's Note
'Watch the Birdie', something that studio photographers might once have said as they took portrait pictures.
I thought that this piece of sculpture was very appropriate for a website of photographers!
It is the title of this piece of sculpture by the artist Allan Mackenzie. Made from Bronze resin.
"Allan's latest collection reflects human expression observing activities of the everyday.
Adding humour and exaggerated drama brings his figures to life as they sit above the garden plants keeping a watchful eye over all things that grow.
Trained in graphic and commercial art, entering the world of sculpture full time after a career in construction."
(Delamore Arts catalogue)
Because of the siting of the sculpture, it was difficult to get a really clear view, there was so much going on in the background!
I did my best.
One more angle in the w/s.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Jean
You do find the most delightful pieces of art work. This one is lovely as so apt, as you say, for a photography site. Both pictures well framed and placed. I like the WS one with his press sticker in his hat.

Hello Jean,
These sculptures are so entertaining. This figure is quite distinct and not much disturbed by the branches behind it. These days no reporters or press photographers wear hats of this kind, so their press cards are usually hung from a ribbon around the necks. ;-)
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Jean, the best angle to understand this work is undoubtedly the one in the WS, but in fact the background is distracting with many disturbing elements. A really beautiful and perfect sculpture to post on this photographer site, interesting post and well done as always. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Jean
How could a photographer resist! Well composed with the building in the background. Unfortunately in the WS the background is in better focus than the sulpture.

Hi Jean
Dof seems to be focused a little behind the statue but it is not a big issue. More importantly the light and tonal range are good and the colour tones of the bg do not distract or bleed into the sculpture. The torpedo shaped sculpture at left & the bg manor house enhance the scene. Tfs!

Hi Jean
Indeed, great treat for TE members to see a sculpture showing a fellow photographer. :-)
I actually quite like the background, the building in the distance is small enough to give context without being too obtrusive. I love the greenery surrounding the sculpture, it's easy to figure out the photo was taken in late May/early June when this colour is at its most intensive.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Jean,
You have a nice collection of modern art installations.
This one is quite unique again. And so close to our hearts as photographers. Nice natural setting with so much green around.
Very well done,

Hi Jean.
Two fantastic compositions of this original and interesting sculpture, which pays tribute to the photographers, certainly a good place to display it, with the dominant green background of the trees, the sculpture stands out very well.
Well managed brightness and sharpness, to enjoy the details.
Well seen and done. I like.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

jean
curious as the upper part of the sculpture is more realistic while the base is more abstract and simple. excellent view under difficult conditions.
I like a lot gardens with sculptures. once I saw one in atacama desert, a pity my bus was running and I had no chance to stop or take photos.
take care
jorge
