Photographer's Note
This is a close up of the weather boards on Woodbridge Tide Mill, Woodbridge, Essex. The regular windows and doors contrast with the shadows.

Welcome to TE!
I like this picture, the lines and the shadow create nice geometric figures.
However, this picture can look much better when adjusting the angle so the horizontal lines will follow the horizon. I'll post a WS later.

I appreciate this 7 in shade.
The exposure is well calculated to restore the white of the house without under-exposure. However the image leans on the left; it is possible to correct the slope with a software like Adobe Photoshop or else.

Malcolm, this is a very good composition.
Clear, sharp and a idea of framing. there will be discutions about cutting or not the windows, its normal, letting flipped or not, nevermind.
To increase this power in composition try to crop at a bit left to put the first line right going to the third right.
Compliments

A very nice composition, Malcolm. I like all those windows and doors, lines, shapes and shadows; a very simple and effective work!

Good pattern shot with the white well exposed and not turning grey as can so often happen.

Hello Malcolm! I like the subject of the mill weatherboarding. The alternating patterns of shadow and light, opposing vertical and horizontal boarding, and the inclusion of the stronger diagonal shadow falling across the mill face are pleasingly simple to look at. However, I think it would have been better composition to shoot this photo in portrait orientation rather than landscape. I have photographed quite a few mills and find it works better to not crop windows or doors in half, as it appears unsymmetrical and distracting to the eye. Also, on a less technical note, Woodridge is actually not in Essex. ..it is in southern Suffolk just north of the Essex border. I know, because I live in north Essex.Good job though.
