Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
What a lovely day it has been, and I have been out for lunch! What more could one ask for!
Today I am posting a photograph which I took a couple of days ago. I took it in the village where I live and I hope it will show you how old buildings are being put to a new use rather than being demolished!
This was once the barn to a farm. It was used for storing the tractor and the hay when it had been harvested. The farm is no longer 'working' and is just used for residential purposes so the barn has been sold and very tastefully renovated. What was once the large arched doorway has been turned into an equally large picture window complete with stained glass motives. Inside it has all mod cons but that in no way intrudes on its outward appearance.
This barn, which is probably three hundred years old, will be preserved for future generations to enjoy!
(I just need to add, these buildings do not come cheap! The older they are, the more they seem to cost!)
Thank you for your visit. I hope you found it useful and even enjoyable! Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hi,
Not sure about this one. I thik it would be better with the verticals straightened to take the leaning effect away. Also, what happened in the bottom left corner where the shadow is? Looks like an editing brush over-run into the border?
Yes, these places are expensive but at least they've attempted to hide the alarm box. Wonder why they don't have the windows all the same colour. Thanks.
Dougie.

Hi Bev.
Yes, what did happen to the frame in the bottom right?
I don't mind the 'tilt' in the building at all. Perhaps the sharpness could be cranked up a tad, and levels adjusted for a little more contrast. Still, it looks nice as it is, quite a gentle light and rich colours. I looks like an appealing residence.

Andrew

Good colour and exposure Bev. I don't know how you got the "lean" with a tele lens but I think it's worth using edit>transform>skew to straighten this image.

Hello Beverley,
It is a good thing that older buildings are adapted to our days use!
One thing is the architecture from then have more character, an other is that we need to get away from the use-and-throw thinking...
Goo colours and details, a simple composition telling the story well!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello my friend,
I'm a little busy with my work, but your new "cottage" is very fine: I'm lucky to have a TE-friend posting exactly what I would shot in UK, if I was there. The arc-window is a touch of elegance...Your temperature is not so comfortable, I suppose looking at the windows.
Sweet dreams,
Violetta

Hi Bev,
The windows of this former barn catch lovely reflections in this tranquil light.
The cloudless blue sky contrast beautifully with the tje stone work.
Lovely garden adds a bit more peace to this relaxing image.
Regards, Tom
