Photographer's Note
This is a panorama of the Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster. It is the seat of government for the UK, and is where parliament is convened. Historically it used be a royal palace, the oldest part (the Mediaeval Hall) being built during the reign of William the First sometime around 1099! Formal control for the building was passed over in 1965.
Most of the current exterior dates from around 1834 as much of the original structure was destoyed by fire at that point. The architect responsible for the building we see today was Sir Charles Barry, who was also responsible for buildings as far afield as Manchester and Malta!
The Clock Tower which is commonly (but erroneously) called Big Ben, actually contains a bell named "Big Ben" - it's this bell that strikes the hour chimes. The bell itself weighs an impressive 13.5 tons and now strikes in the note of "F". It has changed slightly since its original casting though, apparently in September 1859 (just two months after installation) it cracked! After several years of legal wrangling it was eventually turned 90° to strike the uncracked side.

J'attendais cette vue nocturne de Londres, j'avoue que cette composition est parfaite avec les lumières qui se reflètent sur la Tamise.
Je vous suggère de photographier au crépuscule.
I awaited this night sight of London, I acknowledge that this composition is perfect with the lights which are reflected on the Thames. I suggest you photographing in the twilight.

Those strikes !.. In France also we are used to..
Nevertheless, this is a really good pic. The panoramic size was mandatory here...
Very well done.

Great night shot, i don't think i've ever seen the HoP like this. The reflection and sharpness are very good. shame about the panorama attempt, will it let you add it as a WS??
Good shot.

Really well done.
Try some selective sharpening on the windows and brickwork. I think your 10D caught a bit more detail than what you're showing us.
The golden reflections and the creamy brown glow of the sky make this one.

I didn't know London had a river of gold ;) I think i am mostly fasinated by the repetition of all those windows. Thre are so many of them. The picture itself is technically perfect i think. Or atleast i can not see what could have been done diffrently. I'm suprised that 1 second was all that was needed. Then nightshots liek this could be worth a try with my camera as well. A whole new world was just opened up to me :)

Nice night panoramic photo. The gold colors of reflection is fantastic. The left tower looks squeezed into frame. Here is a lack of free space above it. However very good general impression. Well done!

Nice night shot ! I know how it's complicated to have a good night shot of the Paliament, because the towers on the left and on the right are not lighted, but it's a good shot, I like the reflection on the Thames.
