Photographer's Note
The photo was taken on a walk near Flasby in the Yorkshire dales.
The weather on the day was 'changeable' (see my previous post to see more).
Many do not realise that the 'natural' beauty of the dales is in fact mainly down to the influence of man.
Over the centuries what was once mainly woodland has been cut back to provide grazing.
Thus we have ended up with the landscape we have today.
There are a few trees left though...

Hi Stephen,
Very impressive composition with superb colors and light !
The sky gives a strong atmosphere !
Maybe a little crop on the bottom to give a more panoramic shot would have be interesting...
Congratulations,
Christophe

Hi Stephen
Very simple and with great antuumn color. A great photo.
What is really not good is the excess of dark foreground. A nice frame would help too.

With the menacing grey sky and the dark rich colors this shot is evocative of Midle Ages sanctuary where secrets society held theirs meetings.

P.S. I tried a little workshop in order to make this one looks more sinister and a favorite place for the alchemists.

A deceptively simple photo and title, Stephen, but a beautiful result you get with this presentation - not least due to the effective seasonal ambience evoked by the sunlight, and thanks to the cloudy topping. Well contrasted and a nice ambience; only thing that comes to my mind is I think it could perhaps do with 1 or 2 centimeters less of the dark foreground.

As usual for your photos, you have captured some wonderful colours and fine detail. I'm not too sure about the large dark area at the bottom but the rest of the photo makes up for it.

Another really nice one Stephen - i really like these deep foregrounds - people often comment that I should cut these down when I favour them but I'm with you all the way on this - I also really like the way the line of the trees mirrors the curve of the cloud.
nice observation.
best wishes Kev

Simply stunning! To my eye this seems perfectly proportioned, with the different parts of the photo balancing each other well. The band of light between the dark foreground and the trees splits the two parts, yet brings them together. The sky is very dramatic, and provides a great backdrop to the intricate pattern of the trees. Superb!

Amazing how nature can turn some trees in a great scene. Refering to the dark foreground, after scrolling a little up and down I would cut a quarter of the dark meadow away - but not more because it's essential for the composition.
