Photographer's Note
How many windows can you spot here? It is a tricky question because there are also shadows on the ground. I suppose some arches are not exactly windows, one could argue.
This is one more view from the Fountains Abbey, a world heritage site. It is not even the main nave, but an area behind the main altar.
HERE you can see all photos of Fountains Abbey which I uploaded to TrekEarth.
Fountains Abbey was founded in 1132, operated for over 400 years, until 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fantastic ruins, so beautiful and elegant and the large windows look amazing. The light was so bright and the contrast with the dark shadows is beautiful. Very well done and composed.

Hello Mariusz,
This looks similar to the ruined Carmo convent church in Lisbon which was partly destroyed in the 1755 earthquake. Good sharpness and punchy light contrasts with a nice backdrop of clear blue sky. Tfs!

Haha, did you count 10, Mariusz?
I'll just take your "Word" for it!)
Good shot, un-English blue sky, strong shadows.

Hi Mariusz
yes, more photos of this wonderful subject please!
is that fake grass or real grass? I hate to say it, but knowing me, I probably would prefer to see this Cathedral in THIS CURRENT state rather than it being built hahaha. its so photogenic, especially with all its shadows and open sky reaching arches. awesome shot my friend. super quality

Bonjour, cher Mariusz,
Je me demande si les ruines ne sont pas plus belles et plus impressionnantes qu'une Abbaye existante !
Il existe un effet particulier ŕ travers ces hauts murs et ces lieux chargés d'histoire.
Superbe !
Amitiés.

Mariusz, these visitors are taking photos and are gazing at the Abbey ruins. The tall arches are supported by strong pillars. The green lawn matches well with the grey stone. Fascinating Unesco site worthing a visit. Fine colors, good image quality and excellent light, regards.

Bonjour Mariusz,
J'aime beaucoup ce genre de ruines qui conserve encore les arches en hauteur et les colonnes bien droites. L'endroit est parfaitement entretenu et offre de trčs belles choses.

A marvelous effect you managed in the iner green yard of the roof-less abbey, Mariusz.
Both light and shadows, the tall arches and pillars, and the superbly chosen POV. Bravo for 5this beauty.

Hello Mariusz,
Strange but I count 12 windows (without the ones in the shadow). Do I have too much imagination?
In any case this is a wonderful picture.
It shows a most interesting ruined abbey but moreover, the composition is fantastic!
Excellent choice of point of view and the long lines of the shadows make a perfect foreground.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Mariusz.
What a wonder this abbey must have been in operation, since it is now in ruins, the height of its arches with its thin columns are fascinating, ideal the play of shadows and lights on a spectacular day with that sky of intense blue.
Wonderful colors in soft tones, excellent sharpness and splendid light.
Very well done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

I never tire of these graphic pictures taken in ruins of English abbeys. The violence of the destruction was certainly a real shame ! But then, it leaves us with this elegance in the open air where nature and stone architecture marry so well.
I am sure a place like this is just as prone to meditation as a non-ruined abbey (when there aren’t too many tourists)
TFS and kind regards.
Marie-Louise.
