Photographer's Note
Readers may be excused if they felt I had misspelt the title.. but No.. Orford It is and Orford it has been since the middle ages.. in fact ever since King Henry the 2nd Built it.. It dominates the town of Orford and surrounding area providing protection against invading armies.. Today only the Keep exists, as the walls were destroyed (for more homely buildings) once England became a lesser warlike nation (well on their own soils) and thus less need for defences..## Today its managed by the English Heritage- It houses a unique museum of local atrifacts from coins predating the Romans to important artifacts from World War 11..

Hello Rich,
Now here is a place I have not thought about in decades. With your note, this is a useful little geography/history lesson. Meanwhile, I'm sure you know Churchill's wonderful throwaway lines, "We have everything in common except the language." The word "homely" in British English has the American English counterpart of "homey." The meaning of "homely" literally, in American English is "ugly." Nicely compose shot of a beautifully sunlit and homely tower.
Warm regards,
Bulent
