Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Theses arches, still standing, were once the inside of a Norman Church at Orford.
This magnificent church was first built between 1170 and 1220 and these are some of the fine Norman remains from that period, outside the east end of the church.
The church was rebuilt and extended about 1220 and I am not sure why this part of the church was annexed
but it makes an intriguing, quite mysterious rear to the church.
I will add a photograph showing these Norman remains in association with the the 'modern' church .
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
The old Norman arches provide an interesting and apt frame for the gravestones. You have captured the colours and decorative detail to optimal effect. The oblique point of view creates depth and perspective for the composition. Another pleasant springlike day here.

Hello Beverley,
Fantastic picture of these old, Norman arches. Their details are stunning and really well captured. I like the play of light and shadow, too. The shaded part at left makes the rest stand out even better.

Hello Bev
At first I thought it was an old Roman aqueduct but you'd probably have to go to Bath to see that. It's good that at least part of the Norman cathedral survived. I wonder what happened to the rest of it? Maybe a fire? Tfs!

Hello Bev,
Like Chris I wonder what happened to the rest of the older church, leaving only these arches still standing. It would have been a fantastic building if it had all remained, but these small details are beautiful enough, not least thanks to the fine light.
Kind regards,
Gert

The modern church that shown in the WS, was built next to the ruins, maybe in order to give a continuation to the older one, which did not endure 9 centuries since.
A nice side view, Beverley, exceptional clear details under favorable light.
Good afternoon,

Bonjour Bev,
C'est certain qu'à l'époque, ils devaient conserver ces superbes colonnes avec des arches remarquables.Ils sont fait le bon choix et en plus cela donne une certaine gueule au cimetière.

Hello again,
Reading your description I was thinking whether plasterboard building will still stand by 2120? I guess they won't! :)
Best Wishes,

Hello Beverley,
Rather typical of the British islands. Imposing ruins of old churches or monasteries with a cemetery nearby and presently located in the middle of nature.
A very nice and bright shot of these beautiful arches, clear and sharp presented.
Best regards, Paul

Wow, this is amazing. Feels almost as fascinating and mysterious as Stonehenge but with fewer visitors. The light is really nice and green grass and blue sky make for a lovely backdrop.
Best wishes

Hi Bev,
Your photos are always a great inspiration for me to travel around more.
This seems a bit far away for now but at certain point I really need to venture further to explore and tick off some more of the southern counties.
If I knew I will have such weather as you did - I would be there more often :)
These arches looks ancient indeed. Very well presented. The other photo shows more of the context.
Excellent work,
