Photographer's Note
This is a very old farm cottage on the Lancashire/ Yorkshire borders just near Skipton. It displays all the characteristics of the period with small mullioned windows, random stone walls, heavy grey slate roof and, if you look carefully, you will see the rainsplash over the downstairs windows. There is a lovely dry stone wall surrounding the whole.
If this cottage had been a weavers' cottage, then there would have been a row of small upstairs windows to allow in more light. The weaving was always done on the upper floor.
I hope you enjoy the shot and thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to offer feedback.

Hi BR.
Great composition in B/W.
The story in notes is excellent as your image. Well defined pattern.
Creating the mood in the image is great, related to the notes.
Wishes for a colourfull day, Dear BR.

Hi Beverly.
I love the B&W rendition of this cottage photo. It is so in keeping with the period. Great composition, showing off the typical style.
Your pictures transport me back to the days when I lived in England and roamed the lanes in search of history. Thanks for taking me back there.

Hello Beverley,
Very nice composition of this old cottage that suits the black and white treatment very well. Good tones. May be my imagination, but it seems to lose some sharpness as the ye moves towards the left hand side. Not a major issue.

The notes alone are worth the price of admission. Very interesting indeed, and well borne out in the shot itself. Very good conversion, very appropriate, and makes the photo itself look from an earlier era. Just the right amount of contrast I think. Too many b/w conversions have too much contrast. Well done.

Hi,
Nicely presented POV and a well filled frame. You have a good b/w conversion which has appropriate toning for the subject. Interesting notes too! Thanks.
Dougie.

He Bev,
I love it's vintage b&w details that goes so well in this traditional English village. Your note about the light necessary for weaving is full of historic nostalgia.

Hello Bev,
back from my promenade!
Wonderful cottage, and curious effect of sun (on the walls) and clouds (in the BG). B/W gives to it an ancient air, agreeing with your note. How much old is it? You know that I love old English cottages...
My wishes,
Violetta
