Photographer's Note
Just a curio today. I thought it might be interesting to find the earliset photo worth posting. This is from the first film through my first camera, so it's hard to beat, though I borrowed a 35mm camera the year before, with no good results.
Not a great shot this, I didn't get the focus right, seems a bit close. I'm not sure if the green is faded, or whether it just looked like that. It was rather dusty and hard to clean, did a bit of cloning over the specks.
Having said that I think there's enough of interest here to be worth a post. It's of a free ferry which used to run between the islands of Seil and Luing. The map still shows it there, I wonder if it's still free.
Finding this made me wonder about a theme, my earliest photo. What do you think?

hi richard, assuming it was shot long ago (upps, some time ago :-)) and pretty numerous stuff must have been applied (scanning, storage etc.) - its not bad at all; i find it very good idea to share with us your early works; keep going!

The focus is a bit on the soft side Richard, but it is still an interesting composition with a wide range of beautiful colors.
So this is how you started with a Praktika!
Makes me remeber my first one a Canonet 28
back in 1977.

i like it, but it is a little blurry though, maybe a little sharpening would do the trick

Hi richard
For sure one of the most original ferries I ever saw. Good capture. Interesting story and a 'fine journey' through the scanner for this 'oldie'

Hi Richard. Nothing really in this pic that draws the ye but the overall effect is nice...calm yet urban. Must be the blue color.

Hi Richard
Not your best. It has an overall blue color cast & a green cyan cast in the sky. I would rope off the 'Marlins transport' text & apply an unsharp mask. I may try a ws & upload tomorrow. Composition is good, but focus is a bit soft to be honest.

A free ferry… I guess it’s paid by now! Like everything… That’s an interesting idea, the first photo of a member. JRJ has a very old one two as I remember. Check out his portfolio. Regarding this one I believe some more sharpness could bring up more details even if the original is out of focus. An interesting scene.

An interesting picture and, despite the fading of the colour (or maybe because of!), a really good shot! You already know the focus isn't quite right, so there's not much more to say... except I wish I still had some of my early pictures - the good and bad!

I discovered this theme yesterday and I find it's a good idea!
Anyway, for a first shot, it's a good composition with this ferry. Well done!
I looked in my archives and posted a picture for your theme today. Yesterday I added also an old picture with joute in Sete but as I found the one from Switzerland, you can delete the "joutes combat" from your theme.
