Photographer's Note
Should of course say 'Palace of Pleasure'. As I am going around the seaside resorts I have been surprised by the number of funfairs that there are and also how run down some of them are as well. This is an amusement arcade in the seaside town of Rhyl in North Wales. If you look you can see how the top of her head has dropped off onto the ground. Just love the 'Herbie Cabs sign'.

Fantastac shot of the old rotten place. I love the patina, the old colours. I like the mood by daylight and the emptyness of people.
All the best,

Hello Mark,
Yes, she does look as if she has been having a hard time lately ;-). You have caught the feeling of abandonment and desolation very well indeed. The rust and peeling paintwork are beautifully detailed. I wonder what did happen to Herbies Cabs.

A powerful allegory of the ephemeral nature of these 'amusements' :-)... very interesting shot!

there is something almost scary in this one... a sort of ghostly fun fair that could inspire Stephen King maybe : )
Nice textures on the building and I like the old colors...
Good one.

Mark, good photo, sad sight!! When I was little (early 1960's), my family moved to Ruthin in north Wales and we spent many, many happy weekends in - what was then - a vibrant, happy and magical place. What a pity that our desertion to foreign holiday destinations has led such a proud place as this to be so ruined. Paul.

SUPERB catch, Mark! Superb! I am green with envy when I see a spot like this. Love the delapidation, the crumbling pleasure palace, this desolate beauty. Looks like some old prostitute of a building, so to say. Excellent work. A winner!

I like this series of run down resorts you've been doing, and this is a fine example. The Herbie Cab sign is good as is the rusty lady. Seems a shame to have cropped off the right hand edge of the red sign though - it would be nice to see that included.
