Photographer's Note
Sounds like something from Lord of the Rings! This was taken on a New Years trip to Pembrokeshire in Wales. I think we picked the worst weekend possible for a photo trip as the weather was horrendous - strong gales, torrents of rain, hail - you name it. In three days, this was the only location I managed to photograph, and even then I only managed a few shots because of the strong winds.
This was the first light to greet Wales in 2007, taken at dawn on the 1st January. As the 2 days before had been so dissappointing I was determined to catch something on 1/1/07 which was the day we were returning home. So, I have to admit that I was asleep on New Years Eve by 10.30pm!!! I dont think this shot really rewarded me for it, but at least it was something to show for the whole trip.

Once again Adam youve done it again.
If I didn't enjoy looking at your images so much I would be upset at you making me look so incompitent.
Best Wishes Ben

Very beautiful, I think it was worth the small sacrifice. New years knees-ups are forgotten quickly but this photo won't be.
Lovely colours in the sky, good detail in the rocks, even in the shadows. Lovely composition, the horizon just skims the top of the rocks. I wonder if that was on purpose or just by accident.

Wow! What a way to greet the new year! The huge rocks jutting up give this a very dramatic look, and the sky looks like something out of a Turner painting. This looks like a very interesting place to shoot - is it possible to get down to the beach? Beautiful work, as usual.

Hello Adam,
Avoir plaçé l'horizon au męme niveau que la hauteur de la falaise est trčs habile ! La beauté du lieu est transcendée par la couleur du ciel ! Une superbe image !
Bravo !

HI Adam,
The place is beautiful, but your shot enhance very well the possibilities here: the compo is very good, beacue the coincidence between the summit of rocks at margins with the ocean horizon, then it's great the light giving an ambiance plenty of mystery! Thanks, and best wishes,
Angel.

The red light makes it look like something from Lord of the Rings as well! Beautiful shot, and composition-wise I think this is one of your most unique, with the two "guardians." Well done as always Adam.

Wonderful image. Besides the unusual rock formations I really like the soft but still spectacular light. And I see that you for once didn't use the 17-40mm, I suspected you glued that one to your camera ;-)

It looks as though the gloomy weather has added to the image, the heavy cloud with that peculiar light that often happens with a slight break. Beautiful image.

Smooth colours on the sky, a soft touch of satin or anything of the sort. It is really a lovely sky complimented by absolutely stunning boulders down below. It would indeed be lovely to be able to jump down to the beach and catch a sight from down below... you should have brought rope with you ;D
The little detail I really like here is how the rock on the left is perfectly aligned with the horizon. I think it gives the whole a great feeling of 'togetherness' something that is not that easy to create in such a place. A little detail that makes the whole :-) The boulders in the middle seem to be in the centre of a world wide stage. Excellent pov!
As always, your shots really leave a mark on me!
Thank You for sharing such a sight! And thanks for getting up so early ;D

Magical light in your shot. like surnatural.
The long exposure time gives to the water an interesting effect.

It indeed does look like a scene from the Lord Of The Rings. The red skies and crashing waves give this pic a sort of angry feel, like in the land of Mordor. Beautiful composition.
