Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
This is a scene about a mile from my home.
It is a very natural area, preserved for the benefit of wildlife.
On this particular day, although it was very cold, creating a film of ice on the surface of the water, the sun made conditions great for photography.
The reeds look a little sad at this time of year, bent and white but they are great for hiding the birds and as a photographic feature.
I have seen ducks, moorhens, coots and geese at this location. Just a few metres away, there is a little stream which once powered a tannery (long gone) and there, I have seen kingfishers. What a treat! Sadly, I have never managed a praiseworthy shot!
Have a lovely day.
From a quite snowy Lancashire, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
The golden reeds sparkling under the sunlight give the image depth and make a good contrast with he houses in the background. You were certainly very lucky with the light and the absence of rain:-) The composition is ideally suited to the vertical format and the image well realised.

Hi Bev
ice and sunshine is such a compelling combination and this shot is full of wonderful light and textures with a superb DOF to bring it all together so sharply. Composed and executed imaginatively.
Regards - Brian.

Dear Beverley,
you are presenting a very nicely composed impression of this idyllic place in the wonderful winter light. The colors are so typical. And the photographers perspective is excellent. This is indeed a very fine place for a kingfisher. My compliments!
Warm regards

Bonjour Beverly,
J'aime beaucoup ce cadrage vertical qui apporte de la profondeur ŕ l'image . On peut voir le froid ŕ l'avant plan ainsi que la chaleur sur les maisons au loin.
Amicalement

Hi beverly,
I see straw and sunsine, looking for some ice...
Nice taken on a beautiful day out, fine clarity and depth through the reed and beyond the small creek.
Red roof-tops houses "frame" the scene from the BG.
Charming photo.
Good evening,
ike

Hi Bev,
This ice is definitely not thich enough for skating, but the deep blue colour is compensating for this inability. The colour combinations in this picture is very pleasant, the pale reeds against the blue ice and the red roofs further away against the blue sky. The presence of spring is beginning to show.
Kind regards
Gunnar
