Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
From my conservatory window, I was able to get this photograph of one of the greenfinches which comes down to feed.
Because of the distance, I used by zoom lens and cropped the resultant photograph.
I cannot help thinking this bird was having a bad day! Maybe he was having to wait too long for a feed!
Greenfinches are so distinctive in their feeding habits. When tits or sparrows come to the feeders, they fly in, quickly take a seed and depart. Not so the finches! They sit there taking seeds, cracking seeds, thoroughly enjoying the feed! There is no rush, they could be present for a minute or two!
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Wonderfully captured from a distance, Beverley.
It was waiting for seeds, most probably, but seems to be patient...
Must say I would not distinct this pone from a sparrow, nor did I never knew about this bird.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Maybe greenfinches are smart birds who know that eating slowly and carefully is much better for their digestion than grabbing some fast food on the go. I remember them from my childhood, when many of them came to visit us. The green leaves and yellowish background match the bird very nicely, and the photo is surprisingly sharp for a cropped zoom photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley, a lovely shot of the attractive greenfinch.
You did well to get this degree of sharpness through the window.
The blurry background with its brighter light is lovely too.
We used to have green finches in our garden, but sadly over the past few years we no longer see them.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Bev,
The vegetating is helping to frame the bird. The point of view is shwoing the details of the Greenfinch The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

the image isn't so sharp, but we can see the bird well.nice that touch of yellow breaking the grey. not easy to cross a hard winter.
here the rains are abundant and with no stop, the first real rains in many months.. the first nurses of my town were vaccinated yesterday.

Hello Beverley,
This little bird does look a bit grumpy indeed, even though it looks as such a nice and sunny day. Good sharpness of the bird against the blurry backdrop.

Hi Bev,another guest in your garden, always looking for food, but this is too small for a good dish for me...ahaha...very good capture, despite the distance, the crop and the difficult light too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Another thing I haven't got! First snow, now a greenfinch... ;-) We had some goldfinches the other day, so it's a bit of a consolation.
Jokes aside, I really like this photo with the main subject placed off-centre and against lovely out of focus background.

Hello Beverley
Lol. Yes the bird looks a bit cross! Superb use of a shallow dof with good sharpness on the greenfinch, nicely placed on the 1/3 axis. Tfs!

Hello bev, Chartming viewn of this bird. Now, I observe many birds coming to may garden. There are still some fruits on the bushes, so they are looking for food. One bird, thrush, comes every day. But it is a bit too far for the photos.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Bev,
Unfortunately I have not seen the greenfinch (groenling) in our garden for a long time.
Although our garden is still visited by different bird families, the diversity has decreased somewhat over the years.
I also regularly use the zoom to photograph the birds but rarely have real success with it like you do with this beautiful photo.
Excellent work
Have a good weekend, groet Rob

Hello Beverley,
Good for you that the greenfinches are in no hurry to fly back.
Excellent capture.
Wonderful with the different colours of the blurred background.
Best regards, Paul
