Union Jack, a photo from North Yorkshire, England

Photographer's Note

I always like to include a national flag in a photo. In North East England I do not see much of the British flag (called Union Jack). Occasionally rather the flag of England which is red cross on the white background. Even more often I see a flag with English Heritage symbol set on a tower of a castle. As if this photo was not colourful enough, I was happy to include here the colourful flag of the United Kingdom. I have recently heard some controversial comments about the flag somebody said, there is no black in Union Jack, quite a strange thing to say, I am not going to comment on that. Will Union Jack become a thing of the past though? It does symbolise the union of England and Scotland.

What colourful beach huts they have in Saltburn-by-the-Sea!
Wonderful with the great variety of colours and especially with the red-blue contrast in the photo.
Gorgeous blue hour photo!
Good composition with the different diagonal lines. Excellent depth.
I'm surprised to read that the Union Jack symbolises the union of England and Scotland. Do Welsh residents and the unionists of Northern Ireland feel represented in that flag?

Hi Mariusz,in fact, the union between England and Scotland does not seem to be experiencing the best moments, especially with the onset of Brexit. Excellent opportunity to talk about this, and the photo is really magnificent, it reminds me of a modern version of Bergen, don't you think? Super quality as always. Just enough light for this blue-hour picture, mariusz, a sight combined with the colors of the wooden cabins.
The flag was a good bonus item to the whole.

Here in Australia we are still stuck with the union jack in the corner of our flag. A good photo of that English curiosity - the row of colourful beach huts, although again down in Melbourne they do go for them too.

We don't have any of these in Qld, but they are quite famous in other States such as the ones at Brighton Beach in south east Melbourne. They look equally great here. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,

This is a really delightful photograph!
The bright colours of the beach huts are all visible, brightening up the scene, as is the Union Jack. (I do hope that the union doesn't become divided, united we stand, divided we fall!)
It's a very well taken blue hour photograph, not only for the colours but including the excellent composition, revealing a fine linear perspective.

Hello Mariusz, a perfect point of view where the beach huts disappear in the far distance. The huts look in excellent condition, a rainbow of bright colours.
I like the flare of the street lights and the darkening blue sky.
The flag adds to the overall picture.

a colourful blue hour image with good colours and great depth and perspective. The LE captures the flag in motion and gives a touch of action to the static scene.

Hi Mariusz,
These bright colour cabins make a great photo opportunity, and I'm actually surprised I haven't seen them in TE before. Blue hour was the right time to be there. I like the motion blur on the flag. I hadn't thought this before, but if Scotland would leave UK, the Union Jack wouldn't make sense either.
