Moorland border country, a photo from Lancashire, England

Hello Everyone,

Today I am posting a very typical scene from the moorlands on the borders between Lancashire and Yorkshire, in the North of England.

This is a moorland farm which like so many others, has lots of sheep. These roam the fields in and around the farm.

The sheep are useful for providing wool for the textile industry and lamb for the food industry.

At this time of the year, the ewes will be almost ready for lambing. The ewes can only cope with one or two lambs so if she has triplets, one of the lambs will have to be introduced to a ewe who only has one lamb, or has lost her lambs.

The farmers have to be very clever at persuading the ewe that this is her own lamb. They can cover the new lamb with the fleece of the dead lamb or rub the lambwith the ewe's urine.

Nice composition here with the sheep in the foreground and the stone farm buildings in the background. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail. The deep blue sky forms a nice backdrop for the scene.

Lovely pastoral scene with the lush green hillside providing feed for the sheep as it moves up towards the lovely old stone fence and traditional farm cottage. Lovely blue sky to go along with the excellent details and sharpness to this photo.
