Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
I am continuing my theme of moorland farms and I'm sure you will notice a big difference here! Today, well into spring and the lambing season, snow has been spinkling over the countryside like sugar from a sifter! It was 5-6 cms deep this morning but an increased warmth has meant a big thaw. It won't last!
This particular farm very clearly demonstrates why many of the farms are situated in dips. They are nicely protected from the bad weather, particularly winds which can sweep across these moorland without much being checked.
In the b/g with a pretty sprinkling of snow is Boulsworth Hill. In front of it is Lancashirre, beyond it is North Yorkshire.
Many thanks for your visit.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of this photograph. :-)

hello bev,
so you got your snow picture?, I knew you wouldn't be able to resist going out to get one. This is a simple and pleasant shot. I like its simplicity with the key notes in the matching colours of house and tree line.
regards
Bev
ps i got jealous as we don't have snow here in the low lying field of the Solway, so we drove over to the North Pennines and the Alston Moor to find us.Not had time to upload them yet to see what i got.

Hello Bev,
it is he same here, the weather is crazy, the forecast for this evening is 30 cm of fresh snow in some parts of the country (not the mountains).
Lovely shot with several white and brouwn layers , though I would like to see the green grass and daffodils. :-)
Best regards

Hi Bev,
The light dusting of spring time snow brings out all the lovely details of this lovely countryside scene. The old farmhouse fills this frame wonderfully as it looks towards the high rolling hillside.

Hi Bev.
Bit of a change from your recent sunny posts. This one works well because of the well proportioned composition, with the several diagonals breaking up the picture vertically in a very pleasing way. You have placed the house in the right spot, and retained just enough colour and detail to make this a very pleasing lat (very) winter scene. The pale light is very well captured, and the hint of noise in the sky seems to enhance the scene, really. Perhaps the frame is a little overdone.
Regards,
Andrew

I just discovered your gallery and see from your intro we have a lot in common. I too am an ex-teacher as well as a northerner, but a white rose, not a red one.:)
You were able to take advantage of the recent inclement weather and catch that rare sight these days of snow in England. The Lancashire Moors seem very similar to the NY ones near to my home. I like all the sloping parallel layers here. The farmhouse is perfectly situated in the frame on a third. Well done

Hi Beverley, I do like your theme of farmhouses. We are lucky to live in a part of the country whee they are so old and attractive. I like this shot with the buildings nestling into the moorland. Built there for protection. Keep on the good work. Regards, Jean

Hello Beverley,
A fine documentary of considerable snowfall this late in March!
A well composed presentation with fine details but I miss the lambs, hehehe...

Hello Bev,
I like the gentle colours, strong diagonals and the 'low-profile' farmhouse in this typical wintery scene. I always feel sorry for the young lambs when these late spells of snow and hail fall - made worse by the persistent winds this year - but I suppose they are tougher than they look!
Best wishes....Maggie

Hello Beverley, I spotted this one the other day when perusing your gallery and liked what I saw.
The snow has offered a light which is so typical of the Pennines. The thin covering of snow allows the contours to show through.
I like the lines running across the shot, they help to make a good composition.
I really like this one,tfs.
Regards Jean.
P.S.I am adding this to my favourites.

Bev, I am glad of course that the spring has arrived but the snow there as here gives a new dimension to the landscape. The crossing lines in this shot, the hill lines and the fence all work well to make this a pleasing one and the variations in the lack of color in the hardwood trees is also very nice. Fine capture.

Late March of 2004, looks as winter was still there, but the white covered land gave extra glow of light to the scene, Beverley. Contrast to the trees and houses in grey/brown.
Soon it will be cold winter again...
Have a nice new day,
Ike
