Conflict, a photo from Famagusta, East

Photographer's Note

A disused Greek Orthodox church in close proximity to a functioning mosque tells the story of the conflict in Northern Cyprus. I have also seen the reverse of this scene in South Cyprus.

Not only is this a good shot in its own right, but it also illustrates very well the ethnic differences and the problems between the two groups that occur on this divided island.

very nice: looks so quiet and lonely, but a great photo nonetheless...
i would have liked to see a lighter sky though

This is a powerful image. The vignetting in the corners of the image could be seen as a flaw but I think they focus attention on the subjects in the centre of the frame.
