An Old Post Office, a photo from Yazd, East

Photographer's Note

This place has been considered as post and communication museum by Yazd province general post office.

Maybod post office which its date returns to Qajar time, has been the most significant center of old post affairs. It has been established in the old road of Kerman-Ray and beside Maybod caravansary.

The structure of this building has been built as a castle or fort because it has been the place of maintaining and storing important letters, messages and governmental depositories.
Also it has been built in such a way that defending and protecting from it would be possible. The towers, high walls, scouting holes, beams and its defending situation prove its importance.
This post office has different places such as one uncovered area, two covered areas and some rooms special to post office chief, guards and messengers residence and to horses maintenance. The shot shows part of its yard.

Splendid composition, framing the beautiful courtyard, this former post office, which looks more like a castle courtyard, ideal touch of those replicas of horses and carriage, giving the place a great atmosphere.
