Photographer's Note

Mesr (which means Egypt in English) located 30 km North of Khour town in Esfahan province is an oasis in the central desert of Iran (known also as Dashte-Kavir). The weather in Mesr is warm and dry and the age of the village does not reach to the 100 years old.
The founder of this village was someone named Joseph (=Yusuf) and because of the Well and Qanat (= a subterranean canal initiated by Iranian) he made, the old name of the village was Joseph. Then it was changed to Chah-Deraz (= Long Well) and finally after his death it changed to Mesr inspired by the story of Prophet Yusuf in the holy Quran.

Mesr is best known for its unique sand hills and is a great place for those who enjoy experiencing the rough but beautiful nature of the desert.
