Photographer's Note
Esfahan is, for me, the most beautiful Iranian city and probably one of the most charming city I have ever seen.
The architecture of Uzbekistan and Iran have much in common. I could compare Samarkand to Esfahan and Yazd to Bukhara.
Naghsh-e Jahan Square is situated at the center of the city. Constructed between 1598 and 1629, it is now an important historical site and one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. It is 160 metres wide by 560 metres long. The square is surrounded by buildings from the Safavid era. The Shah Mosque is situated on the south side of this square. On the west side is the Ali Qapu Palace. Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque is situated on the eastern side of this square and at the northern side Qeysarie Gate opens into the Esfahan Grand Bazaar. Today, Namaaz-e Jom'eh (the Muslim Friday prayer) is held in the Shah Mosque.
Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is one of the architectural masterpieces of Iranian architecture that was built during the Safavid Empire. Construction of the mosque started in 1603 and was finished in 1619.
The purpose of this mosque was for it to be private to the royal court (unlike the Shah Mosque, which was meant for the public). For this reason, the mosque does not have any minarets and is smaller. Indeed, few Westerners at the time of the Safavids even paid any attention to this mosque, and they certainly did not have access to it. It was not until centuries later, when the doors were opened to the public, that ordinary people could admire the effort that Shah Abbas had put into making this a sacred place for the ladies of his harem, and the exquisite tile-work, which is far superior to that covering the Shah Mosque.
I liked the and a bit played with it. I hope you will like it.
In Workshop the original view.

Original view is also splendid

Hello Malgo,
This photo shows how much a smart and radical cropping can mean. The original view, which I of course immediately recognize, is very beautiful, but you created a more original and interesting composition by cropping like this. However, the first sentence of the note doesn't make sense. I think it should have been something like: "...one of the most charming..." places is "...situated at the center...". And maybe you should decide if it's Esfahan or Isfahan. ;-)
I think this square should count among my personal "7 wonders" of places I have seen. (Petra and the Potala are among them)
Have a nice evening,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
An amazing reflection photo. The small ripples in the water create such a wonderful artistic effect and the sunlight made sure the colours stand out very well. I also like the contrast of the blue and warmer colours. Very well done.

Hello Malgo, your careful cropping of the original has created a beautiful abstract with lovely colours and pattern.
Thank you for showing the original, that too could have been a main post.
Extensive and informative notes.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Malgo,
The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the reflections. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Malgo
always fun and interesting to see the WS photo so we can compare. I know you're not a true architectural lover as I am, so to hear you say you really enjoyed the architecture in this city is meaning a lot. effective reflection shot, we all love reflection shots :) Nice distortions to make it abstract.
cheers

Hello Malgo,
I like the repetition of patterns and shapes reflected in the water. Good color and sharpness. The wide angled panoramic crop works well here. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
I like both photographs for different reasons.
This is, of course, arty and abstract.
It could be used as a wall picture or as a fabric design, and is very relaxing.
The w/s furnishes more details of the place and I'm a sucker to learn about new places.
For that reason, both are pleasing for me!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

malgo
an impressionist view of this iranian monument, nice use of the abstract mood caused by the movement in the waters.
take care
