Photographer's Note

The mission of Yotvata Hai-Bar (Wildlife Preserve) Nature Reserve is to establish reproduction groups for populations of wild animals that are mentioned in the Bible but have disappeared from our landscape, as well as for other endangered desert animals. The reserve is dotted with acacia trees (Acacia tortilis and Acacia raddiana) and includes a variety of desert habitats: an acacia forest, a salt marsh, and sand dunes.

The natural reserve is a large closed area where animals live in conditions similar to those in the wild. One of the targets is to send some specious of animals from the bible period outside the reserve to the Israeli desert. By now they sent only few groups of a wild ass; an experiment that apparently has shown successful results.

Visitors tour the open area in their own cars through dedicated paths.

Apparently, ostrich was mentioned in the bible. The ostriches in this park seem to be quite hungry. Every time I stopped my car next to one, the big bird went towards us and tried to eat parts of the car.

I took this photo from very close distance while this ostrich tried to eat the window next to me.

I just want to clear one point; in this photo I chose low DOF to deliver more creative result, focusing on the eyes.
