The "Norway" of Arabia

The Musandam Peninsula is the northernmost part of Oman jutting out into the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Persian Gulf.

The mountains have isolated communities for centuries. Coastal villages can be reached only by boat rather than by road. Pockets of flat land support meagre agriculture.

This picture was taken along the way to Musandam.

Thank you for the chance to see this part of the world.
It does look beautiful - will love to see more of the area.

Not sure about the tilt of the picture, if it adds to it or not.

Sometimes tilts work and sometimes they don't, suppose it depends on who's looking. I think this one works, mostly due to the big sweeping curve leading back into the tilt. Makes it feel dynamic to me, like we're hugging the turn at high speed. I like your B&W conversion Rocky.

The light here is fantastic! I don't know about the tilt of the picture, either. To me, you don't need it. Your composition is already strong and effective without it.

Hi Rocky,
This is a nice pic in so many respects but it's spoiled by the sloping horizon. Either you'd been drinking or your tripod has one short leg... ;)
Your choice of B&W works well and, with the exception of the sloped image, the composition is really appealing to my eye. I also think your light management is pretty good. I posted a workshop for you to check See what you think.

Hello Rocky,
Indeed this shot has a feeling of Norway, but if you added the colors you would see its not the same, it would be unique. Through you and other photographers here at TE, I have a totally different view Oman now, Its like a haven curved by nature. Unique POV, well done!
