Photographer's Note

It's not often you see a sarcophagus that has not been extensively damaged by tomb robbers, vandals or earthquakes / weathering. This is an outstanding example of a Roman tomb dating from 250-260 AD & almost in perfect condition with no weathering and almost no missing limbs or heads. Captioned as the 'Labours of Hercules' (who was 'Heracles' in ancient Greece), it is one of several sarcophagi in Konya Museum.
