Photographer's Note

This photograph was taken on the steamboat from Büyükada (Big Island) to Kadiköy at Istanbul... The old man on his jet ski followed the boat for a long time starting from Büyükada, falling into the freezing cold winter sea from time to time. His stamina and love of life at his age was a shock for everyone on the boat.
Update: According to Mesut Bilgi, this old man is Dogan Sakir, one of the grandsons of Hadjı Bekir And he is minimum 80 years old... Thank you Mesut Bilgi...

Bu fotograf Büyükada'dan Kadiköy'e dönüs sirasinda cekildi... Hava soguk ve rüzgarliydi... Bu sartlara ragmen bu yasli adam kimi zaman buz gibi denize düserek uzun süre bizi jet ski ile takip etti... Onun yasama sevinci ve hayata olan bagliligi vapurdaki herkesi sasirtti ve büyük tezahüratla karsilandi...

An interesting composition: I like the contrast between the ship and water scooter. The inclusion of the seagulls add dynamism to the picture.

A well composed image with the steamboat, the birds with a funny effect of the one in front of the boat, and the man on his jet ski(whith a good anecdote). POV, light, colors and framing are good too.

Your scene is full with life and especially meaningful after reading your note. You caught three difficult objects in same moment with your skillful experience; ship and seagull is so easy but adding an eighty years old man to the scene on Jet Ski too is incredible for me. I like splendid blue and white contrast while everyone moving. Congratulations. I wish you a very good week end.

I regret the gull just on the boat's nose (makes a spot that disturbs the look on the compo), but I like the "race" between the big boat and the small guy. A lot of energy in a good soft light.
