Photographer's Note
on one of my trekking tours I've seen this old man living alone in a village near Eşme and making his life by doing baskets of all kinds. I promised to post him this picture but afterwards I lost the adress, I still remember my words from time to time and I feel terrible sorry for I couldn't do my promise; probably he's dead because there happened 3 big earthquakes at that region since that time and maybe half of the population had lost. What a pity !

Perfect, the old man is not centered and you follow the 1/3 rule in this picture but watch out your contrast button and don't over do it.
Cheers Thomas

excelent picture! I like everything, specially the way you composed. B&W was a perfect choice for this theme. Also the really dark sky is wonderfull contrasting with the white clouds.

Wonderful post. He seems to be full of wisdom. I also like the background as it shows a little of what his daily life is like. Very nice contribution!

Very nice portait of the man in his environment, his whole life seems to be written all over his face, like the contrast of bw, just as a minor thing I would prefer the animals on the left not to be cut in half.

Nejat - I understand your feelings re: not getting this wonderful portrait to the sitter - but this is not always so poissible - let's hope he is still alive and maybe one day you will. It is a very good composition and a nice portrait of a man with the materials of his trade.
best wishes

Wow! Really good photo... I love the tones, the vivid difference between dark and white areas. Great composition and good framing. This photo has really its depth. Thanks for sharing! By the way - I posted the old man's original color picture as a workshop for the sepia one. Take care!

I like this picture, this very dark black and white and the horizontal composition which leaves a broad place with the environment of the character. Superb!

I really like this shot. Not only does it follow the rule of 1/3, but it flows naturally. The contrast is good. Amazing shot.

beautiful portrait, well composed, natural pose of the man, tired expression. B&W works very well here. the picture itself is a bit too soft for my taste, but I still like it much, good stuff

Hola Nejat:

You were perfect here,my friend.
The position of the subject is the better.
The B&W is a very good idea for this kind of portraits.
the POV is Great.
The best is you,who didn´t be ashamed to ask the old man for this shot.
Gia sou Nejat, Keep moving....

Hi, Nejat Yilmaz.
This is a very nice shot. I like old people shots. It seems that we could see all his history on his wrinkled face.

Good work!
I agree with thpfister, the contrast is a little exagerated and the picture is a little to dark. That being said, it remains an excellent shot! Thanks for sharing.

Hi !
I'm usually not a great fanatic of portrait, but I must say that this one is just great (and it's not just a portrait !). The man's expression is superb and I like the way you compose your picture. The contrast and light and nicely managed and the perspective on the background palissade is well seen. Good job on textural aspects. Many thanks for sharing !

Hi Nejat,
It's simply splendid. I prefer your B&W version because it underlines the details. Your compo is also very pleasant and the result very sharp! Concerning your note, I took a picture of an old man in Madagascar in October and I still have to send it to him, the problem is that it has not been put on paper yet. Anyway, thak you for reminding it to me! (Sory about what happened to your adress)
Nice job!
Quentin.

Wonderful shot, full of character. Obviously a little dark for some, but I don't mind.
As for the lost address, your regret speaks well of your character. Thanks for sharing the sentiment, but don't let it get you too down. The most we can ever promise is our intent, for we never know what tomorrow might bring. That said, with 1157 views so far who knows? Perhaps tomorrow will bring a local who recognizes the man...
Good luck,
Kai

Selamlar,
Deniz
