Photographer's Note
Second photo from the interior of the magnificent Chora Church. I hope that you don't mind if I copy the note of the previous post ( One of the domes in Chora Church):
"Chora church (Turkish: Kariye Müzesi, Kariye Camii, or Kariye Kilisesi the Chora Museum, Mosque or Church) is probably one of the most beautiful museums of Istanbul. It's relatively dificult to find, compared to marvels such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi palace, the Basilica Sistern, that are very close the one to the other, but it's an absolute "must see"!!!
It's mostly famous for its fantastics mosaics (considered the best sample of late Byzantine art, also know as "The Palaeologian Renaissance") but you can also see some fantastic frescos.
MORE INFO ABOUT CHORA CHURCH FROM WIKIPEDIA:
"The Chora Church was originally built outside the walls of Constantinople, to the south of the Golden Horn. Literally translated, the church's full name was the Church of the Holy Saviour in the Country: although "The Church of the Holy Redeemer in the Fields" would be a more natural rendering of the name in English. (Greek: Η Εκκλησία του Αγίου Σωτήρος εν τη Χώρα, hē Ekklēsia tou Hagiou Sōtēros en tē Chōra).[2] The last part of that name, Chora, referring to its location originally outside of the walls, became the shortened name of the church. The original church on this site was built in the early 5th century, and stood outside of the 4th century walls of Constantine the Great. However, when Theodosius II built his formidable land walls in 413414, the church became incorporated within the city's defences, but retained the name Chora. The name must have carried symbolic meaning, as the mosaics in the narthex describe Christ as the Land of the Living (H Χώρα των ζώντων, hē Chōra tōn zōntōn) and Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as the Container of the Uncontainable (Η Χώρα του Αχώρητου, hē Chōra tou Achōrētou) ( MORE+++...). Γεια σου Ηρακλή,
Πολύ όμορφη προοπτική σε μια παρουσίαση από το εσωτερικό του ναού, με πολλές λεπτομέρειες από τις εξαίσιες τοιχογραφίες και με όμορφα χρώματα. Οι τουρίστες προσθέτουν μια όμορφη χροιά ζωντάνιας στην εικόνα σου.
Σε χαιρετώ, Βασίλης.

Hello Hercules,
This photo is a discovery for me of a church I didn't know in Istanbul. Brought with great clarity and sharpness in difficult light conditins. The Byzantine like decorations are marvellous and rendered in beautiful colours.

Kalimera Hercules, having been to Istanbul for numerous times and having read books and brochures about the Chora Museum, I haven't visited this elegant place there till now. But your first-quality photo is so inviting that, the Chora (Kariye) will certainly be in my "must see" list in my next visit to Istanbul. Congratulations ! Tolga

Hi Hercules,
this is one of the shots which justifies certainly carrying such a heavy bag with the cameras and lenses.
The interior is fantastic and it would be hard to take a decent shot here without a full frame camera with a good lens.
I really like this place, I wouldn't expect so much of Byzantine history still to be seen in Istanbul.
The town has much more to offer than I have ever imagined.
Thanks for sharing that,
M
