Photographer's Note

Replicas of 2 of the 200 T shaped pillars arranged in 20 circles at Göbekli Tepe are shown here at the Anatolian Civilisations museum in Ankara. The originals date back 10 to 12 thousand years, perhaps even older. The site was abandoned 10,000 years ago. The animals depicted here are a pig ducks and a scorpion, but there are other animals as well depicted on other steles. The stele at right is known as the Vulture Stone. The site is close to Sanliurfa in south eastern Turkey. I was lucky enough to visit the site in a tour from Urfa but didn't get any notable photos. There is also a museum in Sanliurfa with relics from this neolithic site. More info here.
