Photographer's Note

This is an old scan from when I was becoming more interested in photography during a family vacation. I was pleased to have an excellent birthday present that year - a real camera - a Pentax K1000 and two lenses.

We went to Novia Scotia, most definitely because of my mother would be very curious to see what this "New Scotland" is all about. I don't think we found any mountains, but she still enjoyed the trip.

We stayed with a farmer called Charlie who said one room in his house was haunted and we must not enter as he would never enter that room, but not to be afraid if a light goes on in the room at night - just a friendly ghost.

I originally wanted to take a photo of the dozen kittens runing around the barn floor, but by the time I got my camera out, they had all hidden under the bench behind this one cat who was brave/curious/courteous enough to watch me as I took the photo.

My mom liked the photo and my parents encouraged me. The seed was planted for photography and travel, though it was not until 20 years later that both became full interests and important parts of my life.
