In 2002, I had a pleasure to present my PhD thesis on a scientific conference in Toronto and in addition to seeing that beautiful city I had an opportunity for a trip to Niagara Falls. For those who don’t know, Niagara Falls is a group of three waterfalls: American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls (both in this photo) which are on the American side of the border and larger Canadian Falls called also Horseshoe Falls which are mostly on the Canadian side (not seen here, they are on the right from the scene). My photo reportage from this amazing location was one of the biggest disappointments. I took plenty of photos but because I was too close to the falls the mist has affected most of my photos. In the result, most of my photos were overexposed with the bright mist and/or not sharp due to some water on my lens. Because these were pre-digital times, I was only able to discover it after coming back home and developing the photos. I suppose it is one more illustration of the benefits of digital photography which allows you to check result, adjust and repeat if necessary.
This picture was taken from the more impressive Canadian side but looking towards the American Falls. You can see here two boats. Maid of the Mist is a boat tour which takes you as close as possible to the falls. I had a pleasure to be on such boat as well.

A lovely postcard Mariusz.
The vegetation makes an excellent frame for the view of the falls.
The boats add an alternative focal point from the spectacular falls.
The sharpness is excellent.
Interesting notes, it is always fascinating to discover the context for the photos.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
I like the close-up photo of the famous falls, we usually get to see the entire falls (that's also what I showed). It shows the falling water and the water streaming across the rocks very well. Good inclusion of the vegetation and the two boats in the foreground as well.

Dear Mariusz
Really wonderful postcard from Niagara falls.
Very nice photo visually, painted in pastel colors.
Conditions for photography as you say difficult but the result is good.
I have had many unsuccessful travel photos that I now display on TE, but without tripods it is really difficult to capture the early morning light.
I like colors here.
Splendid details and excellent natural frame.
Very well done.
Kind regards
Saša

Hello Mariusz,
Reading your notes about you not knowing the results of your photographs until you were home makes me so aware of how good digital photography is for immediate results!
You may have been disappointed generally with the results but this is a very well composed photograph, with the foliage in the f/g, framing the waterfalls and creating a good sense of depth.
The boats say something about the determination of tourists to see the falls fro every aspect but were great for adding focal spots to your photograph.
The focus is stronger on the foliage than the boats and you can easily argue that that was your intention, to create the extended depth whilst still capturing the mood and the spectacle of the falls. You have a wonderful memento, here. I am so envious as I would love to see it but know that is very unlikely!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Mariusz, the passengers in the tourist boats that approach this fantastic waterfall wear rain coats to avoid to be entirely soaked due to the drops carried in the air. This is a splendid postcard that shows a huge amount of water falling in the river. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Mariusz,
I think the best trips are the excursions from business trips. I am glad you were able to enjoy some time off. Nice view of the Maids from 18 years ago. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello, Mariusz!
Very nice POV to show this famous waterfall, I like the view framed by the leaves in the foreground and the inclusion of the boats that is a great scale for that! Light, colors and sharpness are excellent! Wonderful place and composition!

this is the only of the big largest falls of the world I didn't know (Iguassu, Victoria and Niagara). this angle looks new for me. I liked the image with the boats near the falls and the (ants) public at distance watching them at side. excellent.
take care

Hello Mariusz,
I think this photo is really successful.
The plants in the foreground create more depth in the picture.
Both boats are nicely spread over the water while one is dangerously close to the crashing water.
Often I find pictures of Niagara far less impressive than for example the Iguaçu. But this one looks really interesting.
Best regards, Paul
