Photographer's Note
This is a pic of a growing sport in Quebec, Ice climbing. Here you can see a school that teaches the sport to beginners. The Montmorency Falls, cascading 83 metres down to the river below (30 metres more than Niagara Falls) is one of the great places to try this.
This winter, a member of TE Steeve is supposed to help me get started in this sport.
I decided to create a theme dedicated to
climbing , enjoy.

Very powerful. I like the wild snow and the poeple who give the perspective how great the mountain is. Great photo, and good luck in your new adventure!

If this is what beginners take on, I hate to think what advanced participants do! Rather you than me. However, I would have been delighted to have been a spectator and to have taken this shot. It certainly captures both the splendour of the falls and the steepness of the cliffs.

Wonderful picture.
Great to see the falls in the background, with humans giving perspective on just how big the falls & ice wall their climing is.
I wish the people were more focused!

Super, I have just published a photo of the fall and its neighborhood by explaining the escalation of ice. Everything puts together very well. I like your photo and the persons dressed in red put a touch colored in the image. Bravo!
Bravo!

You don't appreciate just how big this is until you see the size of the people! Great detail in the ice face with all the colour variations. The mist from the falls in the background really adds to the atmosphere.

The scale is impressive here. I like the way our eyes stick on the people even if they are so small because of the bright colors, and don't get lost in all that space around.
I've even tried a tighter crop but decided your composition is really the best!
The action scene is very well caught.

Take care !

Good Lord, looks freezing and scary, but must be amazing!! You must feel so small and vulnerable hanging there!
Great, great photo! Please be carefull, so we can see more of this, from the top!!

Very powerful shot. Because of the small people on this pic we can really appreciate the power of this fall. I can just imagine the sound of the thundering fall, the freezing air and mist, the "po pum po pum" of the hearts beating hard and fast, and I can only say "no thank you". Nobody mentioned the centered people, that must be because it's the perfect place to put them in this kind of shot.

This is so spectacular Paul...the clarity of colours, the power of the raging falls, and the sense of adventure all shine through in your image.
You inspired me to dig through my files and I find THIS photo of some ice climbing held each year just down the river from my home.It is an international competition called Festiglace. Now that you are looking into that sport, I hope to see you and Steve there next February:-)

This is a great shot, Paul! What an action shot! The stormy snow at the right and the climbers at the left it looks like something really dramatic is hapening there. It's a scene from a thriller. I'm glad you didn't crop tighter.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Excellent!
Just take care with all your risky hobbies!

Very well made the effects of the water in this fall. It is seen well. Bravo, beautiful success.

Without the humans there, the scale here would be impossible to calculate! Really lovely, engaging image!

Such an impressive shot! The large format is perecft to let us feel the hugeness of the scene. Well obseved and photographed Paul!
That's why I love TE so much, being able to see places I never seen before...
PS: I wish you much luck with the lessons with Steeve, and I hope you will be able to shoot more at the same time.

The Montmorency falls is certainely one of the most beautiful ice climbing site arround Québec. 10 minutes walk from the parking lot, armed with axes and crampons, so many rookies made their fist attempt. Who's next? Good shot dude.

Heavy this shot, a rough nature and these very tiny people trying to climb, it's a good shot !
