Fire Trees, a photo from Quebec, Central

Photographer's Note

Once again at the Mont Sutton. The sky was clear, absolutely no cloud. We could see many stars. However,it was a bit windy and that makes the trees a little fuzzy! Shutter speed of 20 sec.

I played with the brightness and contrast. 22:50h.

I really like the colour of the trees and the contrast against the dark blue sky. Amazing what colours appear if you expose for a long time (I wonder if there was another light source illuminating the trees?).

I don't mind at all about the movement of the trees. However, I find the mass of leaves in the bottom right corner a little too much. I love the slender form of the tree on the left. If you could have included the trunks of the trees on the right as well, or maybe even excluded the trees there from the frame, I think it would work better.

One idea would be to get closer to a single tree so that you could frame the whole of it from (almost) bottom to top and set it against this magnificent sky.
