Photographer's Note
Well I got a little too busy in the fields recently to keep up with my series on Spring Crop Planting. But now that all the seeds are in the ground, it was a rewarding experience to drive out into the fields tonight and shine my lights at low level to see the first shoots of oats sprouting from the earth. In other fields, the corn and barley are also starting to germinate ....the beginning of a new season of hope, never knowing what climate surprises await us.
I shot this with a 3 second shutter speed, using the roof of my car as a tripod.

I really wonder why this was taken at night, rather than morning or late evening. IMHO, the darkness adds nothing to this picture.

Hey Derek,
I for one really love this shot. I think the darkness creates the shot and adds a bit of mood to the setting. I think that was a great idea to use your car lights and to capture this picture at night instead of a normal day shot. You gotta love being creative, that's what it's all about!

An interesting photo that does have a striking quality to it. I don't mind that this has been taken at night, it makes it unique and eye-catching. And I like the angle of light and the rows trailing off in the background. Unique and imaginative!

WOW... a great effect. I love the various levels of lighting over the undulating hills. Very unique point of view and very well done.

I really like the almost abstract look of this image with the green curves. And why not take this shot at night ? photography is also inventing new ways of seeing things. Did you try a different firnat , maybe a more square format ? maybe to give just a better balance between light and darkness... just a feeling that maybe we could see more of the field in the distance if there was less darkness on the right side.

Strange shot. Will lighting make push these plants more quickly? ;o))
Very well done with the rounded-shape of the furrows.

Hi Derek
This is very nice, the green and red, together with the graphic impact, makes this very pleasing.
