When we were in the Banff NP area we stayed in the small old railway town of Field (in Yoho NP) but we did go into the town of Banff one cloudy day.
From the town centre we had this view of the grand old Banff Springs Hotel sitting just below the low clouds. The hotel dates from 1888 and was one of the earliest of Canada's grand railway hotels having been built by the Canadian Pacific Railway.

The most known hotel in Banff, Ian, reckon it is so huge that a whole picture of its edigfice from the valley looks almost impossible.
managed well with the trees in the FG and the fogy slope far beyond.

Hello Ian, This hotel is huge! I prefer the smaller ones. Are there so many people wanting to stay there? Impressive presentation in spite of the cloudy day.
My dream is to go across Canada by train, I like long train journeys. But probably it will remain my unfulfilled dream, taking into account my age and situation with COVID.

Hello Ian,
This looks more like a palace than a hotel. A quick check on the net proved that a night here would be far above my normal budget. But it looks very nicely surrounded by trees and you used the foreground well.

Hello Ian,

This huge, palatial hotel, really shows the power of the railway at that time! There must have been a lot of passengers to warrant such a building!

I like how you have suggested its 'isolation' by placing it between the f/g and b/g trees. By doing so, you have made it seem like a palace hidden in a forest!
Lovely, horizontally layered composition.

Hello Ian,
I remember when I prepared our 2019 trip that the hotels in this area were twice as expensive as 100 km away. That shows how popular this beautiful park is with tourists.
This atmospheric photo of the hotel in the clouds shows that there is sufficient capacity.

This looks like a castle built in a national park.
If this hotel is ever fully booked, the park won't be as quiet as I imagined (or wished).

Hi Ian,

Looks similar to the Fairmont hotel at Lake Louise. I did spend a few days in Banff before heading off to Calgary. A good sharp elevated view. Tfs!
