Photographer's Note

The Bow Hut, a three hours hike from the Bow Lake, is one of the largest and more modern alpine huts in the Canadian Rockies. It sleeps more than 30 people. Its location at the border of the Wapta Icefield makes it a prime winter destination for ski mountaineering. In the summer it is somewhat less popular, since no peaks over 3300 m are accessible from here.
It is one of these locations where you get rain, snow, sun and strong winds within the same hour, every hour. During one of these rapid switches between rain and sun, a rainbow persisted above the hut and was nicely enhanced by the polarizer. The ridge in the background is the back of Crowfoot Mountain, well known to the tourists passing trough the Lake Louise – Jasper corridor for the glacier with the same name witch is well visible from the highway.
