Photographer's Note
This photo was taken at the world famous Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Canada. This lake has a spectacular turquoise color caused by glacial dust suspended in the water. This fine dust is ground off the mountain rocks by the glaciers.
This photo was taken before sunrise.
Film: Fuji Velvia.
Scanned with Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED.
Levels adjusted in Photoshop.

Great composition. I like the reflection and how it mimics the shape of a mountain. Beautiful colors and sharpness. I like how you have included the rocks in the foreground. Nice shot!

Yes, I'm the first!
Another one that pleases me so much. The foreground is well managed against the blue lake and the third "layer" in the background adds to a great landscape photography.
And of course, Canada looks like a magical place for a photographer.

Hi Ryan - this is the first time that I've noticed any of your shots, and what a great one it is! I like the symmetrical composition, with the V of the mountains being reflected in the water. Beautiful light too, and the way you used the foregorund rocks to give this some depth is wonderful. Welcome to TE and I hope we see lots more like this!

A great choice for the time of day for this shot, Ryan, with enough light still on the distant snow to make a nice reflection, but keeping an evening feel in the foreground. You also have just enough symmetry without having too much. Perfectly executed, beautiful scene! Regards, Ken.

Beautiful reflection, Ryan. This is the first photo of this lake I have seen in which the water does not appear opaque. I like it much better this way.
Lots of depth in your composition; very dramatic and imposing for a place of such stillness and serenity.

Ryan,
Great shot, I love the foreground and the fact that the reflection of the mountain is not obstructed by the topmost rock.
Looking at this though, I can't help but feel a little depressed. I lived in Western Canada in the late 80's and I hadn't seen a recently taken shot of Lake Louise in a long time. Where has all the snow gone ??(I realize your shot was taken in August). There was a lot more snow back then. Global warming (which should be really labelled Global warning !!).

Hi Ryan,
Great composition and the framing is very appropriate. The water is so still and the perspective is so perfect they probably belie the length of the stretch of the Lake. Terrific image.

Hi Ryan,
The glacier thus detailed and its reflection on the lake, the stones that often resort as a topic.
Beautiful truly.
What a pity, I have only seen during
the winter the Lake Louise

Hi Ryan:
Wow, this is possibly the best photo of Lake Louise from this view I've seen. I've been to Lake Louise numerous times (my wife is from Calgary), and seen plenty of photos, but I believe this is the first I've seen that actually does justice to the lake. Your photo has a softness and serenity that most photos of Louise don't Your composition is great, your colors are great, and the textures are quite unique for this lake. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ryan,
Great composition and point of view. Nice color of the sky and the reflection in the water! I like the stones in the foreground and the mountain in the distance. The border works well with this photo too! Nice job!
