Photographer's Note
Dryocopus Pileatus. A pair of Pileated Woodpeckers on the prowl. They are usually very loud, either through their drilling into the trees or their calls. For northern Canada, a very large and colourful bird. To find two of them, so obviously in love, is a real treat.
Elk island is a nature preserve just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. Within 50 metres of this picture there was another species of woodpecker, several species of duck, a handful of herons, a flock of pelicans and a pair of American Bitterns. And these were just the birds....

The picture is not sharp, I assume you took it from quite a distance and enlarged electronically. But the moment is quite unique: I had no clue that we have these birds around here, and isn't unusual to see woodpeckers on the ground, two in the same image!?

Lucky you to see this pair. Thy F8 to F11 in this situation, it should render both birds in focus. Also, maybe a lower angle of view - you on you knees or lower, will bring them more into perspective.
