Photographer's Note

L'espčce d'oiseaux la plus représentée sur l'île est le fou de Bassan. L'île abrite la plus grande colonie de fous de Bassan au monde avec plus de 121 000 oiseaux (en 2008), déclassant depuis peu l'archipel de Saint-Kilda en Écosse qui compte 119 000 oiseaux. Ŕ moins d'une catastrophe environnementale, l'île de Bonaventure conservera longtemps son titre car la population de fous de Bassan y est en croissance de 3 % par année alors que celle de Saint-Kilda est stable.

Tu as bien capturé l'oiseau en vol. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du Fou de Bassan. La netteté est excellente ainsi que les couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hello Serge,
It looks like a simple photo, but I think anyone who ever attempted a shot like this knows how hard it is to capture a bird in flight with such perfect sharpness and exposure. You also took this when the wings were most elegantly spread. The "simplicity" and the plain background is the key to the beauty of this photo.

Fantastic quality aviary pic in the wild - kinda sea bird I think. The position along with the detail in the feathers is lovely, and contrast to blue background is mouth-watering. Excellent frame filler, what precision! Congrats

Hello Serge,

You have taken a remarkable photograph, here.
It is extremely difficult to capture a bird in flight but you have managed it with this fine shot!
The clarity of the bird is first rate, only its wings show a little movement blur, which is just what you would expect and infers a sense of movement to a still photograph.

I just have to say, "Well done!"
I have tried it and know how difficult it is!

A superb close up of the gannet with good sharpness and dof. I never knew that St Kilda, an inner suburb of Melbourne, was named after the St Kilda in Scotland. The blue sky makes a marvellous backdrop. Tfs!

what I really like this one, is actually the bg and the bg colours, its beautiful. I'd like to have that grey/blue as paint in my house haha. nice that we can see the eye of the bird too, and of course the white feathers contrast well with the bg to make it come alive. cheers
