Here we have Michael McDowell just about to leave his garage in the paddock to head for the First Practice session in order to prepare the Trois-Rivieres 150 race scheduled on Sunday.

He is driving a BMW M3 , the No. 60 in the Grand American Cup Serie , GS Class.

I attended quite a few races over the last ten years. I must admit only our local GP, is giving amateur photographers such opportunities to take close shots of pilots and teams.

Here I did not choose to use the flash, to avoid annoying the pilot. Longer exposition, allowed me to catch the movements of the pilot, and get the real blue mood of his peaceful environnement. It is a strange fact, when you think he will drive at abt 200 kms per hour in the narrow streets of the circuit.

His mechanic, is fixing the safety net on his left . The main purose of this net is to keep the head of the pilot inside the car in case of a side impact. The right head pad is also to avoid head injury in case of an impact from the other side. One side effect, it is reducing the pilot visibility drastically. In clear , he cannot see a car on his right until it is right beside him.
