Photographer's Note
The contrast between the upright slender maple trunks with these two new shoots aglow in the evening sun caught my eye. Very little processing was required to present this photo. Should these two shoots be noticed by the tree farmer they are subject to being removed. But for now they stand in their fall glory isolated from the rest. Enjoy!

Hello Paul -
Very nice and very fall image. I like the contrast of the maple leaves against the dark background of the maple saplings. You have minimized the sky so that what is showing is not distracting from the main element. The back lighting of the leaves provides texture and depth to the leaves. It is a very pleasing composition and the PP addition of a dark border enhances the impact of the image. All of the technical stuff seems to be spot on. Well done!!
Thank you for sharing

We see many, many beautiful pictures of the Fall season these days. But I have to say that this one is one of the most beautiful I saw. Sometimes, Simplicity is the heart of Beauty. Rich and deep red against the dark trunk. Excellent framing: the diagonal, the minimalist elements, the white sky that we only get a glimpse. There also an emotion in this photo. Nostalgia maybe?
Great one Paul.

Amazing shot Paul! The backlighting on the leaves is wonderful, really kicking the colour up to another level and making the leaves stand out against the dark background. I like those tree trunks too, which almost look like a bamboo wall they are so close together. Beautiful!

Hi Paul,
You got a good eye for detail in the landscape. Most people would not see this at all.
Wonderful composed and exposed, light is great on the red leaves. A strong contrast image together with an excellent composition.

Paul, i am very impressed by this simple and striking image, a wonderful example of where only colour can give life to an image. Like a Zen painting, the beauty here is the simplicity. Vertical lines of the tree trunks accentuate the placement of these amazingly vivid leaves, which stand out magnificently from the dark background, luminescent from backlight and glowing in all their short lived blood red glory.

Wonderful Paul. This is a superb fall capture. Sometimes it is tempting to try to get the big scene...all of the different trees and their respective colors, it can be too much and you loose the impact. Here you've taken the simple approach, just a few leaves is blazing color...just excellent. I see you're getting close to your stated goal of capturing the last leaf on the tree.
See ya,
Chris.

You seem to have been experimenting a bit lately, Paul, with these images containing graphical elements and your 'trademark' backlighting. This is one of the best in that category that you have posted. Superbly composed and great control of the light as usual. Cheers . . . David

Hi Paul
This is a stunning shot because of the way you have captured the light on the maple leaves. The red colour contrast sharply and impressively with the tree trunks. The depth of the shot is superb, as it is accentuated by the repetition of the trunks. Good framing and nice exposure control. Well done.

Hi Paul, a pleasure to visit your gallery. Your series about autumn leaves is really impressive, and this shot in particular is stunning, the title describes its essence perfectly, light does isolate these leaves from all the rest, and I like your tight crop and the ordered background of the trunks. Very well done indeed.
Cheers

La composition est trčs originale. J'aime beaucoup les contrastes entre la raideur des troncs d'arbre qui sont aussi sombre et la légčreté et la brillance des feuilles. Magnifique, bravo. Bonne journée. Marine
