Photographer's Note
Under bridges there is a whole other world from what we normally see. Travelling high in the air, far above the water, you can lose touch with reality. When you take the time to walk under the bridge you can see the world up close, and personal. This is the Skytrain (subway) bridge over the Fraser River, near Vancouver. I ventured down there one day recently and discovered some people down there fishing, relaxing, watching the world go by. It is a place that I had been past many times before but it was the first time I stopped to explore it. There was a whole beautiful world down there, one that's worth checking out once in a while...

Wonderful perspective of bridge, angler, & sky line. Nice clouds and shine on the sand & water. Some noise in the sky but a wonderful picture. Regards. Latiff.

Hello Alvin,
This is a really cool shot! I love the stark silhouette type lighting and the low Sun placed directly behind the bridge. The fisherman is perfectly placed in your composition. This a photo where you thought "outside of the box" with your unusual lighting, composition and by juxtapositioning the fisherman with the urban environment. If I had Bill Gate's money I would start a massive movement to make urban areas much cleaner and more integrated with the environment. Cities would be places where people could catch fish and watch wildlife on a daily basis.

Well Good evening Alvin. Nice to see this back lighted photo at the Fraser River. I can see you positioned yourself in the perfect spot for this photo. And of course the added fisherman along the shore is a real super added feature. Without looking carefully this bridge reminded me of the Alex Fraser Bridge. This sky train bridge is beautiful though and much more attractive with its slim design features. I like this shot Alvin. It tells me you know your way around Vancouver where some of the best photo opportunities are. Good work!

Hello Alvin,
Etonnant !

Hello Alvin,
Great shot! This looks like a familiar view and quite close to my place (depending from where you took this of course/). And you didn't stop by for coffee? Haha! Anyway, this is an excellent capture with the bridge as a silhouette and the sun hiding behind it bringing out the beautiful blue sky! I like the fisherman by the water. Great work, Alvin!
Greetings,
Ann

Hi Alvin,
great silhouettes against the blue sky. The POV is stretching the bridge even in the vertical format. Wonderful light with the sun behind the bridge.

Hi Alvin,
Another nice view to show the Vancouver skyline and a clever shot against the sun using the massivr structure to hide the sun globe and provide a strong silhouette, good WA dynamism too
Have a nice day JY

Hi Alvin,
What a very difficult picture, but you took this image excellent after the big pillar from the bridge, this give a very good image and perspective, we see the construction of the bridge lovely against the sky, very well done!
Thanks for sharing.

John.

Hi Alvin,
I was taken aback for a moment, this bridge looks so similar to one we have in Kolkata. Love the way you have shielded the sun creating those nice looking silhouettes along with the brilliant blue sky.

Hi Alvin,
What a great shot! You presented a perfect POV in stunning color, clarity, and detail. The clouds are a great addition to this image. The fisherman adds a wonderful human feel to a very urban transportation scene. Great work and thanks for sharing. Gerald

I like the composition of this one, Alvin. Apt choice of the vertical frame, and a good placement of the single person contemplating pretty much the same view as the one you are presenting to the viewer here. Good positioning to use the bridge pillar for blanking out the counterlight, with a compelling and well-contrasted play of shadows as a result.

Alvin,
Very exiciting shot, very graphic, with the silhouette of the "bridge" somewhat echoing the man and his rod. Makes for a fine composition. Sharp and striking colours too.
Very nice.

Fantastic contrast and silhouetting,

Beautiful, almost duotone image, with
the colours under the bridge being so
good as if out of this world!

Good evening Alvin.
Exceptional the way you made your idea a photo.
From the one side of the coin this world has something nice (light) from the other something not nice (dark).
In your photograph, with the very good way you used the light, you show both sides of the coin.
Very good shot.

Hi Alvin,
Beautiful shot of the skyline and the bridge in the backlight, and a great POV! I also like the silhouette standing there all alone looking at a modern, indifferent, unloving city. Well done!

Hi Alvin,
The silhouetted fisherman combines with the bridge here to great effect. The silver gleam on the river in the sunlit areas enhances and contrasts so well with the darkened portions. I like the depth here and the proportion of sky, with the distant skyline well seen. It was clever to obtain this effect by hiding most of the sun behind the bridge. Have a happy Easter weekend.

This is really a winner, Alvin. The man in his solitude, the powerful and sturdy bridge watching over him. The flow of lines in the composition is very strong. Perfect clouds on the right to balance the bridge on the left. One of your best recently. Regards, Ken.

Hi Alvin,
I do like the way you framed the bridge against the bright sea and sky; the lone fisherman is a great addition, humanizing the bright scene. You managed this bright light very well to capture the clouds perfectly.
We often joke about sleeping under the bridge; how nice that the area under the bridge in BC is not filled with the homeless.

Hi Alvin, this is a wonderful shot of this huge structure. It towers so far above the man and yet he seems oblivious. I guess he has seen it so many times before. Great colour and contrast and the sun behind the pillar creates a wonderful glow.

Hi Alvin,
Excellent perspective in this setting of the bridge, which silhouette in cross-light forms a diagonal that crosses this beautiful blue sky decorated with a few aesthetic clouds.
I like very much the sheens and reflexes that you have caught in the water, and you have organized very well the composition placing the fisherman in foreground, in contrast with the profile of the city in background. A great shot.
Best regards,
Josep
