Photographer's Note

This is my second post from Waterfowl Lake, a gorgeous spot along the Columbia Icefields Parkway north of Lake Louise. The day was cloudless and the lake like a mirror. - a wonderful day to enjoy nature.

You live in a fantastic area to take advantage of the wonders nature has to offer in the Rockies and around. The symmetry with the reflections is very appealing. All the slopes lead the eye perfectly into the lake. Well done

That is a beautiful photo but there is something what I don`t like about it: that drain pipe on the left side of the photo looks like hell:)

Hey Gerald,

This is a great shot, except for one small piece: the drainage pipe on the left hand side. I had an instructor ask me once about an image: "Why did you put that there?" It's a great image, but I'd recommend working it so that piece was hidden.

You captured wonderful clarity in your colors!! I like the framing a lot: the asymmetrical V that the mountains make is really attractive and then when you double it with a reflection, it's a real WOW!! This is a wonderful image of a magnificent place.
Every is so pure and soft...
I like this composition with the decision of a 50 / 50 between the lake and the sky balancing well this superb reflection.

Not only a clear day Gerald but there seems to be no wind blowing ripples on this mirror like lake. Wonderful capture with the slant on the shoreline complimenting the reflection in the water. Good work Gerald and thanks for sharing.

Nice use of thirds.The leading line around the lake and from the reflections brings us into the image. Great exposure and DOF. I especially like the red flowers or algae in the bottom left.

Hello Gerald,

Definitely, Canada offers fantastic landscapes. Here, the depth is really impressive. The blue comopsante is perhaps a little too present but it's a detail. On the other hand, the image is a little under-exposed (few details in the low lights). And I notice that the majority of your last images are rather dark, is this desired ?

The crisp clean air makes the details in a distance as clear as those near, and I'm surprised to see a mountain lake this size so totally calm... The reflection is wonderful of course!

Hi Gerald,
Excellent POV that faces toward the narrowing of the valley thus giving a striking reflection that forms a V shape in the calm blue lake. Beautiful clear colors, excellent sharpness and depth to this composition.
